Measurement & Psychometrics
Psychometric assessment services
Use this FOR
-
Building or improving an assessment tool for an app, organization, clinical study, or research project.
-
Creating a measure that supports decisions (screening, selection, monitoring, outcomes, progress tracking).
-
Fixing a noisy questionnaire or task that shows ceiling effects, floor effects, or unstable results across groups, devices, or time.
-
Adapting a scale to a new language, digital format (paper to app/web), or new use case.
What you walk away with
-
Measurement Plan — constructs (what you want to measure), tasks/scales, endpoints, and how results support decisions.
-
Validation Evidence — reliability, validity, responsiveness to change, and clear statistics/figures.
-
Scoring Rules — total scores, standardized scores (for example T-scores), missing data rules, cut-points, and special-case handling.
-
Traceability — item/task to endpoint mapping, analysis plan shells (Statistical Analysis Plan), and audit-ready documentation.
Patterns we reach for
-
Construct-first design — the use case defines the measure.
-
Stepwise modeling — start simple, then use Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Item Response Theory (IRT), or Rasch models when useful.
-
Meaningful change first — estimate minimum clinically important difference (MCID) using anchor-based methods, with distribution-based metrics as support.
-
Measurement bridges — check whether scores stay comparable across languages, formats, and groups using invariance testing and cognitive interviews.
Quality gates
-
Reliability targets — internal consistency and test-retest targets (for example omega [ω] / Intraclass Correlation Coefficient [ICC]) defined up front.
-
Group fairness checks — measurement invariance and Differential Item Functioning (DIF) documented; biased items revised or removed.
-
Missing data rules — acceptable missingness limits and backup rules defined before analysis.
-
Transparent assumptions — scoring and analysis assumptions documented, with preregistration where appropriate.

Example runs
Comparing and selecting assessment tools to measure change in cognition or behavior
Cross-cultural adaptation into three languages, including group comparability testing
Testing whether an app-based measure detects meaningful change over time
Designing assessment tools for behavioral interventions in organizations
Content validity interviews with patients, clinicians, or users to improve clarity and relevance
Boundaries
-
We do not force a scale to measure something it was not designed to measure.
-
Not every lab task works in real-world or clinical settings — we will try to clarify this early.
-
You (or your Contract Research Organization) collect data; we design the measurement strategy, scoring rules, and analysis plan.
Why Work with Us
-
Verifiable track record — Project experience that can be discussed and evidenced where appropriate.
-
Free consultation and progress tracking — We can talk by phone and/or video call at the start and during the project.
-
Clear fees — Pricing is based on project scope and task complexity, with hourly or fixed-fee options, milestone structures, and a pre-agreed maximum number of hours per task.
-
NDA agreements on request — Confidentiality can be formalized if needed.
-
No prepayments — Invoices are sent only after the agreed task is submitted and approved.

FAQ
Do you build new scales or only adapt?
Both. We can develop a new assessment tool from scratch or adapt and validate an existing questionnaire, scale, or task.
Can you help move a paper questionnaire to an app without changing what it measures?
Yes. We can support digital migration and test whether the app/web version performs the same as the original format.
How do you decide what should be measured?
We start with the decision the assessment needs to support, then define constructs, choose endpoints, and select the best task or scale format.
Do you always use Item Response Theory (IRT) or Rasch models?
No. We use advanced models when they improve the assessment. If a simpler approach is more appropriate, we will recommend that.
